Overview

Aikido Doshinokai is a modern martial arts academy focused on developing the mind and body under the guiding spirit of Aikido.  Classes are offered seven days a week covering Basic Aikido, Advanced Aikido, Weapons Training, and open mat practice.  Chief Instructor Haruo Matsuoka (5th Dan) operates Aikido Doshinokai with the support of several black-belt instructors (see About Instructors Page).

Facility

Aikido Doshinokai provides a safe, convenient, and welcoming environment for all practitioners. The open mat space is approximately 1200 square feet with additional space for male/female changing rooms, restroom, and observation seating area.  Building on the communal spirit of Aikido, students have full access to the dojo and participate in improvement and cleaning efforts together.

Classes

Each class involves focused training based in the methodology of traditional Japanese martial arts.  Specifically, classes include warm-up and stretching exercises, demonstrations, and partnered practice.  Students of all levels train together and at their own paces.   This structure allows beginners to improve their skills quickly by working hand-in-hand with senior students and instructors.  Aikido training develops self-defense skills, physical fitness and spiritual awareness.

Visitors

Interested visitors are welcome to observe a class anytime; or attend a trial class for free.  Aikido practitioners visiting from out of town are welcome to attend classes appropriate for their skill level for a nominal mat fee.
